When independence was declared by Ho Chi Minh in 1945 then rejected by the French, Triet, who was 15, joined the resistance. He very first collected revenue and sang propagandistic tracks with a youth brigade, then entered the Viet Minh Military. Wounded in combat in 1952, Triet noticed the French defeated two years later then moved north together
